PostSubject: My growing shack...   Tue Sep 15, 2009 11:22 pm

Started out looking like this:

Built a shelf so I can actually mount radios:

That's my shack...

I bought the PS used (it was almost in pieces)...took it apart, fastened everything down, turned the voltage up to 14.0VDC, painted the case, and added a pair of leads out the back (one with a standard radio plug, the other is just a pigtail). Paid $20 for it...didn't go too bad there for a 10A supply.

Bought the Washington about 3 months ago...hasn't been to DTB yet, but I can tell its a splatter box. Does around 18watts PEP, has upper and lower channels, and seems to be in fairly good condition. I don't think it has been hacked, looks like it was just turned up and had channels added. If I keep it, I'll have the channels removed and the thing tuned right so it doesn't splatter.

I got the Grant in trade...not too bad a deal. Makes Grant #2 for me...

I recently bought the GRECOM PSR300 portable, then decide I liked it enough to buy the GRECOM PSR400 mobile/base. Both are 1000 channels, trunking, and 500, 700, and 800 Mhz. I put up a quickie dipole for an antenna, then bought an actual scanner antenna on Sunday.

CB = constantly buying...

I like it! Thats a great way to gain some extra space out of what you already have with only a couple scraps of wood and some screws and/or glue.I have pretty much the same idea going on over here only on a larger scale.The shelves quite honestly I dont even remember where they ever came from.The desk...well its exactly what I wanted...BIG nice and deep so theres plenty of room to tinker on the desktop between me and the actual gear.The desk was a freebie.Wolfes auto care in Finland Pa. had it setting out front of the shop free for the taking.I raced home and got the wifes blazer as fast as I could.Other than a couple rings from glasses or mugs and the fact that the lock for the center drawer dont work its perfect.Oh and the Magnum is no longer there,my 88 sits in the front and center slot.
