Well our illustrious leader and I came to an agreement on a 55 amp Cascade aps power supply.Switching type, kinda looks like a car audio amplifier with built in cooling fan and all. Will pick it up this weekend hopefully.I cant wait,I have never had a power supply that big.Biggest I have owned was a 36 amp Pyramid. You know what this means rite? If I pass phase 2 of the plan over here by running the Lee in the house then I now have more than enough power supply to try stage 3.....the 2 pill test What a Face I am thinking Texas Star 250v Killer Bee.The reasoning behind the T.S. as opposed to a comp box is because the T.S. boxes are cleaner, comp boxes got em in the watts but tend to splatter much worse in my experience.2 2290s should take me from mudduck to being a presence on the airwaves.Actually I get out good now but you know how it is you always want more. Will also open up the possibility of picking up and running on the base some of the hi powered radios like 95t2 4600 turbo and the like Very Happy Yup yup Im a happy boy,my base is coming together piece by piece cheers Shawn

Much more watts absolutely but Fatboy is nowhere near as clean running as a T.S. in my opinion. If I had no neighbors I would be all over the Fatboy but I gotta try and play with the cards I have been dealt and I just think this is the best way to go about it Cool Shawn

How can that fatboy be much cleaner?? Isn't it a class C amplifier? I thought the AB TS box had much better filtration??

Thats the way I always understood it too but hey Im no amp tech so I aint gonna argue the point.Heck maybe I wont even run an amp, maybe I will just get a 95t2 and call it a day,150 watts built rite in.Im just happy cause this power supply will give me quite a bit more flexibility with what radios/amps and radio amp combinations I can run if I choose to do so.Rite now all I have is a little 4 amper, good enough to run a mildly tuned 29 but one key of the General on that supply and and things would go snap, crackle, pop and poof. So what will I end up with on the base in the end Question Who knows, guess youll all have to keep tuning in to see wasup Very Happy Shawn

Texas star is ab-1 biased, less efficient than class c but also cleaner than class c.
Only reason a TS would run less clean is if it were overdriven, they dont take much drive.
Almost all texas stars are designed to run at max with maximum 4 watts rms drive.

You must read from the big book.

Fatboys are not biased at all, so what goes in gets multiplied. All radios produce some harmonics....
You can get a biased fatboy, i have a 1x4 here that is ac-1 biased. Nothing like texas star biasing, but cleaner than C.
TS are cheap, i can get them at good prices straight outa outcom.
Tubes are better.
200 for a killer bee.
150 for a davemade m-80.
