Yes, but the most common MOSFET is the 520 mosfet. It is a switching mosfet where as the mosfet in the conversion is a RF mosfet. I think that it would more energy effective than the 520. But then again, I'm getting old and lacking hair. Very Happy

The mosfet in the conversion is an IRF520.....
Each manufacturer has its own numbers, ERF2030 is just EKL components fancy number for IRF520.
The companion parts can me made easily as well with resistors and diodes.
It will be an easy mod.

I've only done one mosfet conversion in a 29 once, it sucked, the average power was ****.
It would be worth doing in a galaxy cb since they suck ass anyway.
The bi-polar fets were better in my book.

I asked about the dual final conversion for this DX959 I have, and while DTB Radio was willing to do it, he said it would be disappointing (not doing the watts it really should, or would be expected to do, with dual finals).

Something about the fact the radio doesn't have the power supply to adequately run dual finals...

Yo he is a stupid ass, the radio gets its power supply from outside the radio anyway, that guy talks out his ass sometimes, bottom line he doesnt know how to do it and is afraid to screw it up.
I have heard of these radios doing 65-80 watts peak when done right, i would expect only 50 though, some meters are funny......
There is a reason the radio comes with the spot for the second final.....they are made to have this done to them!
