Why don't you get one, if you don't like then sell it. What radio are you thinking of?

I would like to give a Uniden pc 68 a try.I like it for its simplicity. That and I already have 4 Cobra 29 ltds and probably 2 29 gtls on the way, waiting to hear back from some guy on Craigslist. He has 2 29 gtls and a power supply for $50.00 He takes forever to answer emails or phone calls though. If it were up to me I would have already had them in my posession a week ago.But yeah I was thinking of putting a pretty good order together for Sparkys,Radio, mic and miscellaneous things like mounts and covers for a couple radios I already have. This would be the first radio I have bought from them.I have bought accessories there and shipped my Cobra 150 that noone wanted to touch to them for conversion and peak and tune.Al did a real nice job on that radio, got nothing but good reports on it.Shawn

Then I would have to say he's an idiot. They feel cheap and flimsy but they offer the best audio from a NC mic. I wouldn't recommend one in a noisy atmosphere though because the element in it is really sensitive. I've done tests on my 29LTD with echo on the base and out of the stock, ST-65, 636L and the RK-56 everyone said that the ST-65 was the loudest and sounded the best.

In my mobile I use a 636L when I'm driving, but when I park and key down for a while I switch to a ST-65.

Shawn,
Al at Sparky's treat you right when you buy a radio from him. When I made my order of three he made sure that I was ordering the proper stuff. He asked questions as to the application, type of location etc and did a great job on the radios.

I want to try one of those mics too. Willy never put them down.... In fact I don't even think he really had an opinion.

you guys have heard me on my radios....all those times up at the valley I was rolling a ST-65 mic. That's right, I had a skythumper on the 4600 turbo and on all the other radios I played with up there when I was in the little remote controlled car. I'd say give it a try shawn, no doubt they're good mics. just not in a classic clunker that makes a lot of noise.

That's what I use, punchy as hell. That 68 will scream. I just did a 78ltw today. Holy hell. When i finished getting full peak power out of it, the damn thing had a 12 watt deadkey! No bullshit either, i about ****. Must be a special one, although it's the only 78 i've done so far, once I do some more i'll see if they all are cabpable of this. Once I was done doing the variable it has variable up to 8 watts or so, it's doing 12 peak average. The true peak is serious, over 40 watts. It was one loud sonofabitch, must have hit it with the screwdriver just right, haha.
