| So I have a keydown coming up with 488 soon and would like to key against our very own forum owner Nighthawk soon as well.We all run 5 pills so we are fairly even in the amp department. My question for everyone is should I run one of my many Cobra 29s for these keys or should I put in the General Lee? The Lee is obviously more powerful but the way I understand it all the top dogs in the competition world run Cobras or Unidens.I have heard while exports like the Lee are more powerful they tend to splatter and waste much of the power off frequency. So what do you all think? Cobra or General??????? Shawn _________________ Snowman...The Real #1 around the Keystone. You will be missed...You will not be forgotten.R.I.P my friend. |

| You would want to use a cobra or uniden doing about 10-11 bird and that will smack the crap out of your amp but it won't push it to the limit of extreme harmonics and spurious transmissions. In an apple to apple (I.E identical setups except for radios) key down the cobra will win. (if tuned properly) And don't forget to make the "judge" sit about 7-10 miles away from you, line up side by side and point directly at the receiving station. |

Tough call......... | UPDATE!!!! not so tough of a call after all.Well last night I was talking to Lowkey from my place to his over yonder.I was on the 29 I just had peaked up and asked so what am I giving you,3 swinging 5 he says.OK give ma a minute and give me another reading.I quick swapped in the General Lee and said now what am I giving you,3 swinging past 6 was the comeback. Now the only thing that changed was the radio not location or antenna or anything so there you have it the General should be the radio of choice for my upcoming keydowns. Thanks Lowkey.Shawn_________________ Snowman...The Real #1 around the Keystone. You will be missed...You will not be forgotten.R.I.P my friend. |

| Good Deal ! Hopefully my installer can throw in my capacitor today, so that I'll have minimal voltage drop. |

All the lee will do is overdrive the driver in the 5 pill. |

You wont drop volts. But atleast run 2 farads, this is not car stereo, the amp draw is harder than that of a car stereo. Can you get me an 80 farad? Remember - throttle up when you key down to get that alt to do its thing. |

Stinger makes an 80 farad, although I'm not a stinger dealer. Maybe another one of my vendors has one. We order the 5 farads alot. I never looked to see if they have anything bigger. |

| it's been said that caps like the ones you guys are talking about won't help keep your box supplied with power well, but I have heard unconfirmed reports they will help filter the power going in. this I'm not sure of, let that be open for discussion, I just like the fact you could watch your volts with an easy install of one.... |
