So lets start a who runs what thread.I run several different mobile radios,General Lee,RCI 6900f25,several Cobra 29s.All of these radios are fed into a Fatboy 5 Pill[1x4]all 2879s which goes to either a Fatboy open coil or a Wilson 5000.What I run all depends on my mood.I have been known[just ask Nighthawk]to change radios about as regularly as most folks change their underpants.So there it is,I showed you mine now its your turn to show me yours I just love this smiley afro,reminds me of some of the horrible tv shows I grew up on in the 70s Im back quiet neighbor Shawn

Well, I run right at this moment a Galaxy DX 979 into a Wilson 1000 mounted on the roof of a GMC extended cab PU. Very shortly that will be supplemented by a certain Texas Star amp. I just got to figure where to mount the amp and I'm be happy, and ideas??

Right now, i'm running an RCI/Ranger Superstar SS158EDX that's worked up into a Fayboy 2 Pill box with a Wilson 1000 Magnet antenna...

Got it from Sparky's and it rocks better than my old 29 which was tuned and chipped by 12 volt. Going with the Galaxy was smart to me. I talk USB to a friend how got the same radio at the same time and is good for about 25 miles barefoot. The terrain around here is simular to SW PA, with lots of hills. Also got my GF a DX 919 at the sametime and she overall loves its performance as well.

well, i've got a 1989 Cobra 148GTL in my PU. it's been peaked & tuned, it's got a mod kit, roger fart, channel kit (40 up, 40 down), rebel flag faceplate. it's pushing 31 watts from a 2 watt carrier. talking thru an astatic 636L. and it all runs thru a wilson "Lil' Wil" antenna.

Hmmm ok lets see here.... my main mobile setup is my 113NJ tuned PC68 XL which has variable power 0-5 watts DK and will swing to 9 watts bird or about 30 PEP watts. It also has talk back and an LT-2D echo board. I use a Skythumper ST-65 mic. The 68 XL drives my DaveMade 2x4 and I am using a Wilson 1000 mag mount. I also have 2 Cobra 29 LTD's (front mic) one has the exact same things done as my PC 68 XL but it does 10 watts bird and was also done by 113NJ. The other 29 was done by STD out in AZ, it has Variable power 0-6 watts DK and will swing 11 watts bird. No echo board in this one but it does have switchable talk back.

I use the the 2 29's on my base, I switch them out depending on if I'm in the mood for echo or not.

I've got three different radios now, and am given to run any one at any time, but mainly stick with the connex 4600 turbo. I also have a cobra 19 dx iv, and a 25 nw wx st. on a shelf I have a davemade m-80 and a fatboy 2 x 1446 black box. My mic of choice on the 25 and 19 is the rk56, on the connex I run a skythumper. three different antennas, all ready to throw on at any moment needed, my infamous gunslinger adjustable 102" whip, a wilson 2000, and a monkey made.

on a side note, my new project is a 86 ramchager, I'm planning a 1x2 into a straight 8, and i just took posession of a new hi amp alt to add on under the hood, as well as a pair of batteries and cable to run it all strictly for the radio setup.

Where to start?
In the mobile I run a Uniden pc76xlw philippines that I did up. 0-5 watts dead key with about 40 pep. That goes to a fatboy 3 pill. The 3 pill goes to a dave straight 8. Running them with 2 batteries and an isolator system. Using a fatboy 4 wrap long shaft on a firestarter puck and a custom made bracket that is bolted to the roof rack.
On the base I have a Dak 9, navajo trc 431, maco 300 tuber (300 avg.), galaxy 1000 tuber (over 1000 avg.), and for sideband I use my yaesu ft-847 which is used for many other things. Have a maco v5k on the roof here at about 40 feet. A wire antenna outside and a triband v/u antenna here as well.
Most of the time I'm talking on a radio that I am doing up for someone when I am here on the base.
I have many other radios that sit here and collect dust for the most part, I will be digging them out for classic radio roundup here one of these days.
